Hi, I remember having a problem like this, and in my case, it was the
enternet 100 dsl software that was doing this.  The only way to fix
this is to repair internet explorer since windows media player is a
part of internet explorer, at least, that has been my experience.  In
my case, though, every time I would start msn messinger, it would start
having trouble again, but now that I have raspppoe, I don't have those
problems anymore.
