Sun Sparkle! The reason is "low latency". This won't be a problem with most every day users. If I have a MIDI keyboard and some software music synthesizer running and I press a note on the keyboard, with a low latency card such as Sound Blaster devices it may take .5 or more seconds for a sound to be heard.
