to solve the problem go to your winamp go to preferences and then media types. (orr file type I forgot) then deselect "asf".
this way the software you use to play your wma files (.asx) will play then and you won't have to save them as (which anyway does not work)

PS : It has to do with winamp not with windows media player as strange as it may seem. i ahd this problem too)
