Hello Graham,
For starters, I will give you what Sound Forge's help says about the subject. If this isn't enough, contact me off list.

Adding and Removing Playlist/Cutlist Regions
Available only in the full version of Sound Forge
Special Menu: Playlist/Cutlist
By adding regions to a playlist or cutlist, you can perform advanced arranging without altering your source file.
These regions will be played back when you click the Play button in the Playlist/Cutlist window, skipped when you click the Play as Cutlist button in a data window, or saved when you save the playlist/cutlist as a new file.
What do you want to do?
Add a region Delete a region
1. Select a region in the Playlist/Cutlist window. If the window is not visible, press Alt+3.
2. From the Special menu, choose Playlist/Cutlist, and then choose Delete from the submenu.
With a region selected in the Playlist/Cutlist window, press the Delete key.

Subject: Deleting Regions in Sound Forge - Can it Be Done?
In my current project in Sound forge 7, I create regions for the material I wish to record to CD. I can't figure out how to edit a region name or delete a region. Can any Sound Forge user advise me how to edit region names or delete regions?
