Hi, Is the burner playing audio cads ok?

I try to open the folder to see if the drive reads the disk, and I am asked to insert a cd in the drive, which I already have. I've made an attempt to trouble shoot, and go into properties to see what I can do, and it says it is working properly. I'm using windows xp pro. I have no idea of what cd drives are in the computer.
