There are also short cut keys to adjust balance.

Control alt and k will put the balance in the centre
Control alt h will go full left 
Control alt ; will go full right 
Control alt j and l will go half way to their respective sides.

When in Winamp and focus is on the main window, you can adjust the
balance with the right and left arrow keys.

If you're up for editing the winamp.ini file, look for the line pan
equals and make the number zero, that is the number zero not the word
zero.
