Since you mentioned Tivo, I thought I'd approach this particular beasty from the opposite end--not eh corporate one, but the software developers' end, because the competing product, Replay, is an OpenSource project. Guess what! They weren't any more responsive than the Sony folks would be if you tried. Even the Replay-TV web page is a nightmare!
