Hi everyone,
What follows is my opinion, the Bose flame war is about as old as the Internet.

The "Bose sound" was disappointing. No high frequency extension and dropouts over the frequency range. I can't get figures from Bose, they don't publish them, so this is subjective. I took a cd and listened to some music and I came to the above unsubstantiated claim.
For computer speakers they are not that bad, but I think Cambridge is cheaper and sounds a bit better. Not HiFi though.
The Logitech range is not bad. Good value for money, but worse than Cambridge. Good for games and movies, suffers if you are listening to jazz or classical music. Ok for rock, fine for techno.
Do you want 2, 2.1 or 5.1 sound? How much money do you want to spend? How much space have you got? Do you want to listen to music, does fidelity matter? If you are listening to mp3's mostly, there is no point in forking out large amounts of money for HiFi computer equipment.
I pipe my flac's to the DAC on my Receiver that drives my large system. Fantastic for quality.
I also have a $80 set of Chinese junk 5.1 speakers that is stacked around my PC for playing games.
Go and listen to lots of speakers. Take you own cd. Most sound demo's are rigged.
Regards Johan.
