I forget where this program came from, but, I had an alarm clock on my system called Banshee Screamer. This will play not only it's own rather annoying but loud alarm that comes with it, but, you can also program it to execute mp3 or wav files, but possibly programs as well. Plus, it's a multiple alarm clock, highly programmable. Yes, last I checked, it's free.
