If you actually want crossfading then you'll need some software to do 
that.  There is a free SQR crossfader plugin for winamp which isn't 
too bad.  There is also an output stacker which supposedly allows you 
to stack output plugins, so you could stack the crossfader with the 
disk writer plugin and make a wave file which you could then burn to a 
CD.  At least, in theory you should be able to do this.

If you have not normalized your mp3 files you might also want to get a 
compressor/limiter plugin for winamp as well.

Well I can do that with an audio cd. However I thought that there

way of encouraging .mp3 tracks to cross-fade. I would have thought 
that the
buffering of .mp3 files would have been transparent to the system ie. 
that
this would have occurred in the background and not interfered with 
output.
