First, I need to give you the correct spelling, it is:
w, i, n, a, m, p
you missed the m at the end there, so it's Winamp.
As far as plugins go, it depends. some of them have installers which will put all the files in the correct folder while others are zip archives which mean you have to unzip the files to the proper folder yourself. Ultimately, the correct folder is always going to be:
c:\program files\winamp\plugins
so if you get the files in there, you'll be fine. Remember to shut down Winamp before installing a plugin. Seems like a no-brainer, but you'd be surprised.
