It is always best to install the driver, because you might wish to record audio streams directly, rather than recording them through the soundboard, avoiding the recording of software speech when using your screen reader at the same time you are making such a recording. You should choose to have the driver load only when using Total Recorder. That way, you should avoid any problems relating to the driver.
