Thanks for the prompt reply.
It did it on the onboard soundcard and that's why, apart from the reason
that I wanted a better soundcard for 7.1 stereo, Iput in a Sound Blaster
Audigy 2 ZS 7.1 PCI card. I still get the ticking faintly in the
background - there's hardly any difference between the two.

What are you using for a sound card? If it's one of those onboard things,
you might want to try a card. If it's already a card, you might want to
try it in a different slot. Or maybe an external sound card.
