Thanks for the reply. I should have also asked if replacing a burner is
something that a lay person can do? Can  you just unplug the bad one and
plug in a new one? Or is this  a kin to brain surgery?

Hi Shannon.  Phillips would be a good CD burner, and maybe Toshiba.  At
