A quicker way to get to the recording controls is by pressing
windows-r, type "sndvol32 /r" and hit enter. You can only have one thing
checked at a time in this dialogue.
You can use your headphone jack but it's far from ideal. While
recording keep the volume of the boom box down to no more than one third of
the way up and turn the Line Level volume up in the computers recording
controls until you get good results.
