I've never had an equalizer in the various stereo systems I've owned over the years. So I'm not familiar with what are reasonable settings for the various frequency bands, for various genres of music. However, in exploring the Realplayer 10 equalizer, I see that it comes with various presets, for various genres. But one of them is labeled "presence." I assume these are settings that emphasize the sense of a realistic soundstage present in one's livingroom, and are appropriate for any genre. Since I listen to many different genres, and I listen especially for that sense of realistic presence, I wonder what others more knowledgeable than I think of these settings. Would I do well (initially, at least) to copy these settings to a presets file for the equalizer in Winamp, which, unlike Realplayer, I can direct through my stereo system, and more fairly judge by ear than anything played through Realplayer?
