There are a couple of advantages that lossless WMA has over Flak in this
respect.

Firstly, you don't have to keep converting between WAV and lossless WMA, you
can burn to CD using nero directly from the WMA files.

Secondly, you can export WMA files directly to a ever increasing number  of
portable devices and of course there's many software programs that will play
WMA files and edit them.

Thirdly, you can rip using media player which is free.

I have nothing against Flak as a format but just think that WMA is far more
popular and therefore is guaranteed a greater longevity especially as it's a
microsoft product.
