Well, I use an NVidia personal cinema card for recording TV, but had to run
a line from a splitter hooked to the cable jack, versus out of the digital
box. It means I can only record analog programming, but it works. Whoever
makes the first talking cable box with DVR functionality will strike it
rich, I'm sure. Most cards will take the video output from the receivers,
unless it's HD only, but the issue is controlling the box with the computer.
You would still be stuck flipping channels with the satellite remote. That
means that all programs you wish to record while away must be on the same
channel.
