Hi.
There are quite a few packages that can do this. These include Total
Recorder and other programs of its kind which can convert the sound file as
it plays in a player. I notice that others have mentioned these packages, so
I won't. The problem with them is that they need you to play the file
through. Therefore, a 1 hour file takes 1 hour to convert. Further, they tie
up the sound card. To get it done faster and without using the sound card,
try one of these packages.

has a shareware package called RM to MP3 converter.
http://www.dbpoweramp.com
has a free package which will allow the conversion of real audio to
wav and MP3, among other formats, for the first 30 days of use. If you want
to convert to wav after the first 30 days, it's still free. If you want to
convert to MP3 after the first 30 days, you have to pay $15, I believe. Of
course, once you have the files converted to wav, you can convert them to
MP3 quite easily with free packages like CDEX.
