Ian, Unfortunately, this is NOT possible, in Realplayer. I complained about this (quite vigorously) to Real.com, several months ago. I explained why this facility is often quite important to the blind and others using adaptive technologies. Their only response was a form email, stating that they consider all suggestions; but they gave (and have given) no indication of whether they ever intend to implement this suggestion.
For this reason, I have ceased to use RealAudio web streams (in favor of other formats), wherever possible, and I urge others to do the same.
