Hi Steve. Yes, a better way may be to look at a program called Audigen from Red Chair Software. You will be able to load your music into the database and have full accessibility to browse by artist, album, genre or track, search by simple text or complex SQL, create playlists that can be played randomly or play any of the previously mentioned categories, artists, genre, etc.
If I remember correctly, it costs less than $25 so it's well worth it to have full access to your music collection.
