Hi Kevin, Let's see if I can explain this. I have a few CDs that contain MP3 (music) files that were downloaded as MP3 files. I used iTunes to burn these CDs, but only have access to Media Player on the computer that I want to use to rip the files. Therefore, I am trying to figure out two different programs, basically one for burning and the other for ripping.
I thought that I was supposed to select the MP3 format option in iTunes, even though the files were already MP3 files. Actually that does sound strange now that I think about it, so it could be my problem. Not sure if I understand you. Are you saying that I should choose the Audio Cd format when burning the downloaded MP3 files? Or are you simply referring to the disk itself as an audio CD? iTunes offers 3 format options: Audio CD, MP3, and Data CD. I may have misunderstood the help documentation instructions. I was under the impression only pre-recorded/commercial CDs would be burned with the Audio CD format, and that MP3 files should be burned with the MP3 option. If I sound confused it is because I am. (smile) Hmmm, and here I thought that I had mastered the burning process. (smile) Guess it is back to the drawing board. (smile) Probably won't have much luck ripping the CDs that I've burned if they weren't formatted properly. Subject: Re: Media Player: Ripping/Burning Hi Katrina. You shouldn't have any problems with those settings. I rip using WMA lossless format and have full use of this 512MB machine while the rip's in progress. You wouldn't use media player to rip a CD of MP3 files if the disc was burned as a data disc so assume you mean MP3 files that have been converted and burned to an audio CD? If so, there will be no difference between that and a prerecorded disc. You may have noticed that there are settings in the ripping tab of media player to rip a CD when inserted and eject when complete. These are very handy when ripping a number of CD's one after the other. Another way of activating the rip is to use your JAWS cursor and issue a left click on the "rip music" icon just below the menu bar at the top of the screen. Regards.
