Hi Alison.

I'm no expert with the ipods but it sounds like you may have corrupted the
internal database with it going down during a transfer.  I'd guess it's
similar to other players and has a means of doing a hard reset.  This is
usually done by pressing certain keys to interrupt the start up of the
player and then revealing a menu where you can re-format or clean the
database.  There may also be a small hole for inserting a paperclip to do
the same job.

You'll need sighted assistance to do this but you may want to refer to your
manual or the apple support pages first.  You might also want to join the
blind ipod mailing list by sending a message to
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
with the word subscribe in the subject line.
