Yeah, the splitter-style idea reminds me of one of Adam Curry's old classic episodes I wish I still had around of the Daily Source Code Podcast where he used a headphone splitter as a cheap mixer, mentioning it the day after he did it. The sound sure made sense when he explained what he did.
