I just noticed a very strange Winamp (version 5.22) behavior when deciding on a new audiobook to read. I chose the directory I wanted and figured to use the "Play in Winamp" option of the File menu. Of course, I could just as easily have run Winamp and used the open directory dialog to perform my book selection, but it just so happened I did it via Explorer. Well, imagine my surprise when I heard the book not start at the beginning, but at the twelfth file in. I immediately checked to make sure shuffle was turned off and sort files in the playlist portion of the preferences dialog was turned on. Both were set correctly. I then checked to see if my files had the correct names, or their tags might have been out of wack in some way. Both were OK.
So what's up with this behavior, anybody know? P.S., if I open the directories in Winamp using Shift-L, the book plays from the beginning just as it should. P.P.S.: Is it reproducible? Absolutely. Starts on the same file every time. A different starting point for different directories chosen, but definitely the same track in the listing for each folder tried so far. P.P.P.S.: Is the Alt-E playlist correct? Yes. In fact, when I open the playlist with Alt-E, I'm right on the track that's playing, whether it's the twelfth or the ninetieth or whatever. P.P.P.P.S.: Is there a relation to the order of files in the directory as seen from a DOS (command shell) prompt and the number at which the playlist starts playing when Winamp is launched from Windows Explorer? Unknown. I'm trying to figure that one out now, but there doesn't appear to be one. This one's a real puzzler. _______________________________________________ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This list is a service of MosenExplosion.com.
