Brandon, I don't contribute much to the list admittedly, but every now and then, I think I might have at least a nickle's worth to contribute <g>.
What I've found about the situation with Winamp making the noise, that is a problem I believe caused by attempting to fast forward through a track, or in the case of mp3 files before enough of the file has had a chance to accumulate in memory. If you give the file, especially large ones about 10 to 15 seconds to fully load, you should be less likely to experience that problem.
