i think what you wanna do is to shape the recording. Just select what you have recorded, by placing your start and finnish markers where they need to go, if you don't know how to do that let me know so that I can assist you. Once that is done, you wanna hit alt c to go to the effect menu. From here you either can shape the audio, or you can do what I'd suggest which I've found seems to work a bit better. You may wanna do a fade out and do the normal volume to like maybe 50 percent, or half in other words of the origional volume. The reason that I say to fade it out rather than doing a volume changte, is because if you do a volume change then the volume will tend to go down all at once suddenly, which kind of in my opinion wouldn't sound very natural. it would be as if I were yelling for example one minute saying Hey, Sam, do you like noughnuts? And, right on the nuts sylable of doughnuts, I stopped screaming as loud as I could and all a sudden whisperred all at once. you'd be like, ok, that was strange, why didn't he just gradually lower the volume of his voice. Well, that's kind a what the concept would be in this case of doing a volume change verses doing a fade out. If you do a fade out, but do not fade to silence, only fade maybe to half volume, then, that will sound very very natural. Remember: you only want to fade out the part that you will be talking over. Then, just go to a new window with your control n. then do your control f9 to record, then a corse hit your control f8 to stop recording. Then do Control A to put your start and finnish markers at the beginning and end of the file, then, control c to copy, now control tab over to your other file, and do control m to paste mix. That's all ya gotta do, and since your start and finnish markers are set5 where you need them top be for the voice over section of the filoe, that is thus, where it will be paste mixed. I hope this has made sinse and helps. If not, feel free to write me back and let me know and maybe I could get up with you one on one and show you what i mean. Of corse you can write the list as well and we'll all try to help you. I'm simply just saying if you need an extra hand you can get with me off list, if necessary, I'll be happy to work with you one on one. I'll admit I just bought GW, so, I'm still learning myself, but I'm more than willing to teach you what I do know which actually is quite a lot.
Well, I'll put it this way: I jsut did a voice over type file like you're doing for the first time in GW yesterday as a promo for my radio show, and it went surprisingly well. So I kind a thus have a decent enough feel as to what I think you're trying basicly to do. Anyway dude, my e-mail address is: [EMAIL PROTECTED] That's also my msn messenger address.
