Hi, I've used Sony's recorders before. I advise being very careful with them. If you're looking to use the recorder to transfer recordings or music to and from your PC, you'll have to do it analog. Sonic Stage isn't accessible at all, even with JFW 8. I believe there are alternative pieces of software out there that can accomplish the transfers, but I don't know how many, if any of them are officially supported by Sony. If you go to the Sony Store, or whatever the equivalent in your area is that only sells sony products, they can most likely help you. The people at the one where I live were very helpful. As there are different programs for different models, I'd suggest trying them out first, just seeing if you can get around the U I then go buy the recorder.
I'd really suggest using something else, such as a hard drive based recorder, or the R09 or R1 or something for recordings.
