Got it back.  I followed all kinds of instructions to fix my DVD drive that 
didn't work.  I finally found an instruction that worked.   It was to do a 
system restore and go back to a time when my drive worked.  I actually had 
tried this before but I guess I didn't go back far enough the first time. 
This time it did the job.  But, I had to repair my installation of Jaws and 
do a lot of Windows updates and some other clean up chores.
