I personally never could get the hang of Sound Forge (which is in no way
knocking the program), but I have done some pretty complicated editing
with Gold Wave, which also allows for editing to within a thousandth of
a second. Its strength is the ability to move through a file like we
used to do with a tape recorder, and then do fine-tuning by manipulating
the start and finish markers in other ways. I record all of my radio
shows using GW, and being the perfectionist I am, have gotten quite good
at intricate editing.
