Bruce,

I understand perfectly. Thanks, but no need to explain. I would ask the
same questions if I were running a list. I do find it very unusual however
that freelists is the only listserv that I have this problem with. I still
have the [email protected] messages if anyone is interested in figuring
it out, but probably more trouble than it is worth.

Allison very kindly took care of it manually, so I am now subscribed.
Thanks.

First of all, I'm not disputing you. But the whole point of my asking you to
be sure you include the original message in your reply is that, for every
system I know besides Freelist, that's precisely how it *doesn't work. Most
list servers don't require you to include the message in your reply,
Freelist is the one exception I know of. That's why that's the first thing
we tell anyone who's having trouble subscribing to a freelists list. I had
the problem at the beginning, and was used to not including the original in
a reply toa mailing list confirmation. It was precisely because I knew the
drill with every other provider that I had trouble with Freelists. I'm not
disputing you, I'm just telling you why this is always the first question we
ask.
