Hello,
I am asking on behalf of a friend who is not on this list. My friend bought a new computer which has integrated audio and video. He is purchased a Sound Blaster X-FI audio card which was installed when the machine was built. His desire was to have the screen reader on the integrated card, whose make and model we don't know, and the music and other things to go through the X-FI. Thus far, he has not been able to get any sound through the on board card, with all going through the Sound Blaster. Although my gut feeling is that the techs disabled the on board card in the bios, I seem to recall at least one message on this list a couple of months ago from an audiofile who had a similarl problem with the same Sound Blaster card. So I am writing here to get feedback on this problem. My friend has configured Window-eyes properly for both cards to be used as described above. Thanks in advance for ideas as to how to solve this problem. Somehow, I think that the tech who built the machine did not understand that my friend wanted both cards to be available for use.
