Thank you! I think that will get me going. ----- Original Message ----- From: Talksina To: PC audio discussion list. Sent: Friday, April 06, 2007 11:04 AM Subject: Re: Screamer Radio?

Is there >a way to isolate the recording source from JAWS. No, Screamer doesn't capture Jaws sound too. Don't know why and how, but with Screamer you record pure and clean audio streamings, without any disturbance by the annoying Jaws. >2. I've found the menu option to begin a recording. Is there a >keystroke that can be used, instead? And how do I stop or pause a recording? Navigating the Screamer Radio window, you find all buttons. volume control (slider), then Play (alt+p) which becomes stop (alt+s) during playback. then Mute/unmute (alt+m), then Rec (alt+r) to toggle recording on and off. I explain you the Mute button later. >Of course you do not have it announced, if recording is on or off, >but if you have doubts you can verify it from the recording menu, >if it says begin it means it's stopped, otherwise, it's recording. >And another fast way to verify if it's recording or not, after >having pressed alt+r key, is with the status bar reading command, >insert+page down It says Playing... if it's just playing, and recording...if it's recording. The streaming comes aut clear, so, it does not care of Jaws speaking In the status bar it also reads the direct URL (source) of the current station, and how many seconds of playback. But, you just need what it says first, so, when you hear Playback... or Recording... you press the ctrl key to make it be silent! >3. I've found where I can set the recording bit rate. But is there a >way to choose a format other than mp3? >No, there is no other format. It just streams into MP3. >4. When I click on the menu option to Open Recording folder, it >takes me to my root directory. Is there a way to specify another >folder in which to place a recording. Of course there is. Go to preferences, recording tab, and when it says "saved" press tab and you find a "...", which is the browse button. There you can choose whatever folder you want. >5. When I first start the program, the JAWS focus is on an up-down >slider labeled Information, and set to 100%. What is this control? It's the volume control. Just turn up and down pressing up and down, or right and left, arrows. Usually it speaks, but for example with jaws 8.0 in my workstation here in the office, it doesn't (the braille display follows me, but not speech) and at home, with jaws 7.10, it speaks properly. and also in my sighted boyfriend's computer, where I installed a jaws 5.10 to play around configuring his "toy", it works. Let me explain some things about main window. First you have the volume Information is not the label of the slider, but the title of the group box. if you navigate the window with jaws cursor, going up from t he slider (route jaws to pc and then up arrow), you will find, under "information", the name and URL of the station and eventually the song currently playing, then the buttons, and in the end, the status bar. Let's assume your volume is OK as it is now. you tab, and find play (alt+p) it will say, playback play button. Playback is the title of the group box containing the controls (play, mute and rec) The Play, of course, becomes Stop when you are playing and/or recording a station, and so, the access key from alt+p becomes alt+r. after play, you tab again and find Mute The name is quite ambiguous, because it seems that pressing it will make our computer silent. But that's not. Pressing Mute, just stops the playback. But the Jaws continues speaking, and also, it does not affect the recording in any way! It means that you could start Screamer Radio and begin recording, not to miss your favourite talk show while studying, and keeping it silent! Unfortunately it's not possible to schedule the recording, that is, telling Screamer to start and stop recording at a user-defined time. >6. I've found the presets menu. How do I add additional presets of my own? Unfortunately you cannot play with "presets" Presets are managed by the Screamer Radio developers, there is a forum on the site, where stations can be suggested, unfortunately the forum has the visual confirmation to register, I just asked David (the developer) to resolve the issue via AntiBot question but he did not answer me Unfortunately again, in this period, Ludvik, the Presets man, is away, so he cannot keep presets up to date, I am trying to find a way to help them You can add your favourites, using the favorites menu (remember that when you add a station you must put title, URL, and the source is usually filled with the url you are currently listening to) but favorites cannot be arranged by genre, language, region, etc I hope I have been satisfying your requests Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] __________ NOD32 2171 (20070406) Information __________ This message was checked by NOD32 antivirus system. http://www.eset.com Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
