High Sunshine, I too am using a Sound Blaster sound card in my computer. In order for the line in jack to send an audio signal to your speakers, you have to check that box. Because if you don't, you won't be able to monitor the in coming signal. And also, it won't make the recording either. I learned this the hard way when I first got my sound card.
