Well again, (and this probably goes for other company's as well),
that's a very subjective opinion. As I said before, you buy cheap
stuf and that's what you get, cheap, shoddy, unreliable etc. Sharp
make some fantastic equipment but you pay for it.
Having said all that though (and I'll stick by my words which I've
uttered on this list many many times), I reckon the best portable
stereo I've seen in my time for quality and performance is the old
faithful Panasonic RXED50, that takes one hell of a lot of beating.
Now I won't deny that better portable machines have come and have
gone but the RXed50 (considering the model is 7 years old) is still
selling like hot cakes here and has features which other portables
these days can only envy. No, it does not play MP3's on its CD player
and quite frankly, such a feature is a secondary concern because you
can easily plug an Ipod or whatever into the machine's aux port, what
this thing really has going for it is its unbelievable sound, ease-of-
use, great sounding CD player, excellent sounding and performing
radio and last but not least, a great recording cassette deck which
handles type I and type II cassettes for recording and type I, II and
IV cassettes for playback.
I think I may have mentioned that I sold my original unit some time
ago thinking there would be something somewhat better out there,
didn't turn out that way though so I bought another RXED50 not all
that long ago.
