Hi Brian
I'm glad that you got most of the things taken care of there. I
think, from what your message says, that you may have left your USB
headset plugged in when you shut off your computer. When you have
the USB headset plugged in, Windows finds that, and sets your
headsetso all your windows sounds go through it. You can change this
by doing the following.
1. Go to your start menu.
2. press s until you hear settings,
3. press enter and you *should* hear control pannel.if you don't,
keep pressing your down arrow key until you do, and when you do,
press enter on that.
3.
now press the letter s until you hear, sounds and audio devices. On
my particular system, i have to press s 5 times but your system may
be set differently. In either case, press enter when you hear sounds
and audio devices.
4. Now,once you land in there, press the shift plus tab key
combination, in other words press the shift key and while it's held
down, press the tab key once and you'll land on a series of different
things windows calls tabs. Press your right arrow key until you hear
playback tab.
5. Press your tab key once and you will land in an area where you
can pick which device windows will use for your sounds. if your USB
headset is in the list, press your down arrow key until you land on
your sound card, usually it's the only other one in the list.
Either way, we definitely do not want your headset to be where
windows sends everything, this is bad.
So choose your sound card from the list by arrowing down to it with
the down arrow key and press your tab key again a few times until you
land on the ok button. Press enter on that now.
you should notice a change and all your sounds should be going
through your speakers. If not, simply unplug the USB headset and
windows will reclaim your regular sound card. i hope this helps.
