Ok, well I thought I pretty much explained it or perhaps I didn't
explain it correctly.
A sound print is simply a portion of sound you wish to take out of
your recording, in this case a portion of hiss.
You set up the noise reduction plug-in or system to capture a portion
of the hiss which is called a noise or sound print, you'll usually
find examples of what you wish to remove or silence to a degree in
between tracks or at the start and end of recordings.
Once the print is captured, its analysed by the plug-in where upon you
can adjust the DB of noise you wish to be removed.
Plug-ins have various additional settings which can be set up before
capture takes place but again for most people they need not be changed.
