Hi John, Do you reckon I could have a conversation with you on this matter? I'm curious if I'm doing this right (No, I don't have a mixer, and I think I'll stick with MSN until I get a chance to get a headset with a 3 mm connector so I can use my stario mix on my soundcard (dreadful as it is).
If you don't mind, I'd like to have a skype session (or some such). WOuld it be possible for you to contact me off list for details (or, maybe not, if any dj out there feels like having a conversation with me, go right ahead- maybe we could have a confrance, and you can all tell me how horribly I'm doing...I really don't think I'm doing this that well, snickers.) skype is the_conman283 If skype doesn't work, msn should suffice the_conman283 Unfortunately, I don't have any other way of chatting besides those, unless email (although that can be a bit teedius imho due to, I don't know, the non - instantaniousness of it, or something...). Anyway, feel free to contact me, I really want to try doing something in this field, if I can (though I don't have a job, so won't be able to get anything fancy, perhaps a new soundcard or some such will be as far as I'm able to go, although, what do you guys recommend for headsets for d-jing and skyping and stuff)? thanks, Tyler ----- Original Message ----- From: "DJ DOCTOR P" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC Audio Discussion List" <pc-audio@pc-audio.org> Sent: Thursday, January 24, 2008 2:55 AM Subject: Re: mixer and some radio show help? > High Tyler, > I am a DJ myself. > I can tell you what a mixer is and what it does. > Think about having a preamp that has many inputs for each audio source. > In a home stereo, all of the audio sources are selected by some kind of a > selector switch. > Now lets replace the source selector switch with volume control knobs for > each source. > Now that you have a volume control knob for each audio source, you can > play > 2 CD's or records back to back if you wanted to. > And or, you can do something that is called looping. > The microphone just lets you talk over the music wile it's playing. > This is called a voice over. > For microphones, there are two kinds of connections. > There is the 1-4th inch connecter, and the XLR connecter. > The impedance are different on both of these connecters. > The XLR is high impedance, the 1-4th inch is low impedance. > There is no real difference in the way these 2 microphones pick up sound. > They both work on the same principle. > Basically, a mixer lets you mix sound. > I hope this info really helps you a whole bunch. > And I hope now you have a better understanding of what this is. > John. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Tyler Wood" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: "PC Audio Discussion List" <pc-audio@pc-audio.org> > Sent: Wednesday, January 23, 2008 8:41 PM > Subject: Re: mixer and some radio show help? > > >> My radio show is at >> http://wolftech.redirectme.net:8000 >> >> Ok, what are these different kinds of connections?
