Hello Norma,
This is right up my ally.
I do a lot of this stuff in my spare time too as well.
To answer the first question, the line in jack on your sound card has a
volume control.
You can go in to my computer, then control panel, then sounds and audio
devices.
Once you get there, you will be on the volume page.
Tab over to line in volume, and raze it up to about 60%, make sure that
check box is check or it wont receive anything from any audio source you
plug in to it.
And you should be fine.
But to record your voice, you will need a mixer instead of a preamp.
Mixers can be picked up at RadioShack from $30 to $100.
What you would do then, is run your key board in to one of the line ins on
the mixer, and run the mane line out of the mixer in to the line in of your
sound card.
adjust the volume controls of each source until you get a really good mix,
and you're all sat!
Just one question I have for you, are you doing this with a moldable track
recorder?
My best regards to you!
  John.
