Hi everyone!
As other list members will know, 95% of my computer work these days is
done on Mac machines but I still do the odd bit of work on the
Trashbox PC armed with Windows XP every now and then <smile>.
Its always wonderful to find new accessible software for the Mac so I
bring you good tidings when I tell you that Amadeus Pro is about the
most accessible audio editor yet to come along.
I have 3 different audio editors here and they are Fission (the
accompanying audio editor to Audio Hijack Pro (the all-purpose
recording and processing tool)), Sound Studio which is a nice little
editor and now Amadeus Pro which in a lot of respects is even better,
as far as accessibility is concerned then perhaps Sound Studio and
Amadeus Pro are actually on a par but when it comes to more shortcuts
to manipulate data then Amadeus Pro wins hands down.
All these 3 editors have the ability to "scrub" backwards and forwards
through the audio in the file and that's handy to know so whatever
editor you choose, you know it will at least have this functionality.
One of the features that shines in Amadeus Pro is its "batch
processing" capabilities, you can save a batch job as a completely
separate file, to be opened and changed at will.
At last! it seems we have full access to the world of multi track
editing, I was able to create different tracks, edit each and
synchronise them altogether to create a "master mix", this is a huge
step forward.
I'm also very glad to see that Amadeus Pro (like Fission) can handle
Cue Sheets but Amadeus Pro handles them in a slightly different way.
To give you an example, suppose your CD ripping software allows the
creation of a Cue-Flac or Cue-Wave pair, in Amadeus Pro you load the
Flac or wave file and then "import as markers" the associated Cue
sheet, you can then go back and forth through the file with shortcuts
and land on the markers set by the cue sheet (in this case they
designate the beginning and ends of tracks), nice for quick conversion
or inserting into another audio project which may be open at the time.
Into restoring records and removing noise from your cassette
collection? Amadeus has the tools built-in to give you a helping hand.
Want to add affects including echo, pitch change or any other plug-ins
available for download on the Internet? Then go your hardest with this
software, it comes with a whole aray of built-in plug-ins plus you can
use those which come as part of Leopard or download lots more!
So how much does this "software wonder" cost? Well please read this
figure very carefully as you'll need to pinch yourself to make sure
you're wide awake, $40.00 and I'll spell it out for you to be sure you
understood what I said, (forty dollars (U.S.)) now how many editors
out there with all this are around for $40.00? In shot the answer is
next to none though perhaps Audasity will come close soon.
