Hello all list members, I tried putting a transformer that goes to a lab top on top of my stereo, my stereo picked up the noises that transformer was making. But when I moved the transformer away from my stereo, those noises went away. I also used a shielded pare of audio cables to improve the sound of my lab top. So try this in this order. #1. relocate the power supply and or transformer. #2. try a pare of shielded audio cables. Even if you're going to patch your lab top in to your home stereo system, never place the power supply on top of your receiver and or amp because it will amplify the noise that transformer is making. And also, it is always a good idea to use a pare of shielded audio cables when hooking your desktop and or lab top up to your home stereo system. You can get shielded audio cables from: http://www.radioshack.com You will get the best sound from your computer and home stereo system if you do this. My best regards! John. PS. Don't run your speaker wires over your lab top's power supply or it will pick up and transmit that noise too as well. Make sure your audio cables are separated from all power supplies and power cords and you will be fine.
