Bit difficult to describe the sound of artifacts but I've sent an extract
off-list to Danna.

I'd say the severe compression used for mobile phone calls is a good example
which is often heard on the radio.

Again, if you're familiar with the processing used in parts of the Hitch
Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, then the Vogan Captain's voice is rather like a
bad attack of the artifacts!

Cheers,
Ray.

does anyone have a badly cross-coded audio file, containing lots of quite
noticeable artifacts? I'm not sure I've ever heard what that sounds like;
and I'd like to hear it, so I will know what it is I don't want to hear in
my own files.

If you have such an object lesson in what an audio file should not sound
like, could you email it to me?

Thanks.

Blessed Be, Namaste,

that's Dana, D A N A, NOT Donna, D O N N A
If your synthesizer pronounces them identically, instruct your customized
pronunciation  dictionary that Dana=dayna.
