Hi Donovan, BearShare got taken down by an anti-piracy group a long while back. It has continued to work for a number of years for people who still had the client, however if it cannot connect, there's pretty much nothing you can do about it as new versions are controlled by previously mentioned anti-piracy group. Version 6 is not accessible, and connects to a highly expensive music store. You say you're not looking for a torrent service, however torrents are the most affective way of downloading content these days if you do not want to pay for it. HTH
