I got XP yet, not sure if small as in size machines exist that could do
this. Then I'd need separate speakers for it as well, but I'm on Uverse
which doesn't do cable cards. I guess these type and satellite don't have
to. This complex isn't hooked to the local cable company because they chose
to run their own thing providing 25 channels of mostly the locals and news,
shopping channels, etc. I wonder what will happen when TV's come out that
won't do analog any more off of the coax input you normally hooked cable to?
Will we need converter boxes that go the other way, analog to digital?

I'm not sure about satellite TV, but ATI makes the ATI Wunder, that has a
slot for a cable card you can get from your provider that would tell the
Wunder what digital cable channels you are subscribed to. The bad thing
is
that there isn't a driver available for any of the flavors of XP, and you
have to have a computer with a motherboard that is rated for this card.
Some of the information it uses to access your digital cable channels is
evidently stored on the motherboard. If someone had the money to purchase
a
Windows 7 Media Center box with this card, and their cable company would
rent out the cards necessary to program the digital tuner, a blind person
could use the computer like their DVR cable box.
