Hi John. I think I still have my old record player that was sent to me. I'm not sure where it is right now. You're wrong about not being able to play 45 and 78 records on those players. All you'd do is put the player in neutral speed, and spin the record around. It sounded weird, and my Dad yelled at me for doing it, especially when I played the record backwards, but you could do it. As a side note, thanks to that old record player, I figured out how the Chipmunks were done.
