Hi John, Well here is what you could try. Open control panel. Then open system. Ctrl tab to hardware and tab to device manager and hit space. Now tab to the tree view, where you have all the physical items in your computer. Down arrow to cd and dvd drives, or whatever it's called, and right arrow to expand the branch. Now you down arrow once, and you are located on your Sony drive. Press enter, and the properties opens.
If you control tab once to the advanced tab you have various options to look at. It depends on which drive which options are shown here, so can't guide you much further. But an importen thing to ensure is that it should be running in udma mode for best performance. You can also check the transfer settings for your drive under the disk controller.
