Dan, thanks for your comments as I have been doing a lot of research
regarding this IPhone this weekend. I'm so close to getting one, and I'm
also totally blind.

Hi Pamela and others,
I have been using the IPhone 3GS for a little over a year and have upgraded
the 3GS up to 4GS software a few weeks ago. I am totally blind and find it
easy to use the touch screen. However, it did take a few weekends of
intence practice. Once learning where things are on the screen and most
common finger swipes, using the IPhone got easier.
I was one of those who thought it crazy for a blind person to use a touch
screen. You can buy a 4GS with bilt in voice over for 16 gigabyte $199.99.
They now have two plans for the data package that is necessary for the voice

over. The data packages are $15.00 or $25.00 per month.

So Pamela, now you can just walk into a cell phone store and buy a phone
with voice over like anyone else. It did feel really nice to finally have
the same opportunite as most others shoppers in a cellphone store.

It is true you don't get much of a choice as far as size or shape in regards

to the Iphone but neither does anyone else. You can however choose types
and colors of hard shell or soft cases. Pamela, If you choose to buy a
Iphone I would be willing to help you learn how to do the basics including
dialing a number, answering, hanging up, closing applications and texting.
For that matter, I would be glad to help anyone over the phone. If you
email me off list I can contact you via secondary phone like your home land
line and work with our IPhones over a speaker phone etc. It isn't really
that bad. but may appear such at
first.
