Probably a lot of truth in that as I only wanted to reduce some background 
noise, I copied a sample of the type of noise I wanted to reduce and used that 
for my envelope.

As you say I could have played around a little more but I was happy with the 
results I got the first time around, was worried that if I played the result 
may have been too "Expanded".
