Can I add to this discussion - is there any way of knowing if a sound or
file is clipped when playing or clipping when recording?

In earlier versions of GoldWave, I could easily read the VU meter. In
the more recent versions, I am not able to do so and am presently using
version 5.58. If one can still read the VU meter, please tell me how to
do so, regardless of which screen reader you use.
