Yes they are stereo speakers hence two times. I have a speaker on either
side of the radio.

The big question here is how the measurement of 2 times 2 watts was made, given
the low figure I suggest that the manufacturer of your radio was being honest
and measuring the total in RMS rather than peak thus you don't get the
outrageous total watts that seem to accompany heaps of products these days.
2 Times 2 wats should give you more than enough power in a radio to satisfy
personal listening at least.
